Architect the agent runtimes our clients' autonomous agents plan, collaborate, and execute work inside — the scheduler, the message bus, and the policy boundary they cross.
What you're signing up for
This is a founding engineering role on the team that builds the agentic systems clients actually run in production. You will design the execution substrate — the agent scheduler, the A2A message relay, and the policy-gate enforcement path — and you will own it end to end, from the data model to the bytes on the wire. The work is low-level and high-leverage: the patterns you establish here set the latency, safety, and observability ceiling for every system Bytevon ships to clients.
The work
- Design and build agent runtimes: scheduling, isolation, lifecycle, and the A2A message bus that carries millions of messages per day in production.
- Define the policy-gate enforcement path so every agent action is checked, traced, and reversible without bolting on latency.
- Drive the data model for agent identity, capability advertisement, and delegation across multi-tenant agent fleets we build.
- Set engineering standards for the systems we ship: testing, profiling, incident response, and the bar for what ships.
- Partner with security and observability to make the runtimes we build auditable by construction, not as an afterthought.
You bring
- 7+ years building distributed systems or infrastructure in production, with deep ownership of at least one large system.
- Fluency in a systems language (Rust, Go, or C++) and comfort dropping into Python or TypeScript service code.
- Hands-on experience with message buses, schedulers, or orchestration layers (Kafka, Temporal, Kubernetes internals, or similar).
- A bias for measurable correctness: you reach for traces, benchmarks, and invariants before opinions.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity — this is a founding role, not a ticket queue.
Bonus signal
- Experience with agent frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI) or the MCP ecosystem.
- Background in multi-tenant isolation, sandboxing, or capability-based security.
- Prior work on real-time telemetry pipelines (ClickHouse, OpenSearch, Prometheus).
